I really, really thought getting up blog posts would be easier now that it's summer...boy, was I wrong. This full-time adulting thing is hard. Props to actual, real adults who do this 8 a.m.-5 p.m. job thing ALL YEAR-ROUND. Like, wow.
The month of May is nearing an end, and I've been loving quite a few things as of late. And because I haven't gotten up to anything terribly exciting in the past few weeks and I REALLY need to put up another blog post, here's a Favorites. Yay! Exciting! Innovative! Never-been-done-on-the-internet-before!
New Computer - Dell XPS 13
I got a new computer because my old one was total and complete crap. Okay, it wasn't that bad, but it was pretty terrible. It was buggy and the camera didn't work and it broke my jump drive and it had non-existent battery life and it weighed a LITERAL TON (perhaps I'm over-exaggerating), which was very unfortunate for my poor back during school. But enough about that decrepit piece of junk. My new computer is a Dell XPS 13 and it is tiny and wonderful and I love it. So far, no complaints!
Television Shows - Call the Midwife and Outlander
Since we're on the topic of my new computer, I think it's fitting that I tell you what I've been watching on said new computer. First, I began watching Call the Midwife at the end of the school year, and wowza, do they make childbirth look easy or what? Call the Midwife is my go-to, family friendly feel-good show that I turn to when I need a pick-me-up. On the other hand, Outlander is the television show that I have to watch with headphones plugged in and/or my bedroom door closed, no parents allowed, thank you very much. That being said, it is an incredible show that my friend has been telling me to watch for at least two years now. And I'm very sorry I didn't listen to her sooner. If this picture of the dreamy Scotsman, Jamie, doesn't convince you to start watching, I don't know what will.
YouTube - Allana Davison
I've got my go-to group of YouTubers that I always add to my Watch Later playlist, and Allana Davison has been pretty high on that list for a while now. She's a Canadian beauty and lifestyle YouTuber and I love her. More recently I've been watching her vlogs, and let me tell you, I've got a major girl crush on Allana. Her style is flawless, she's hilarious and weird, and I just really like staring at her face. Too weird? Ah well. Here is her Instagram so you can stare at her face, too.
Candle - Bath & Body Works Tomato Vine
Right, I know what you're thinking. Tomato Vine? DISGUSTING. Guys. I do not like tomatoes. I don't hate them, but I certainly wouldn't choose to eat one or put one on my sandwich or something abhorred like that. HOWEVER, I grew up with a mother who loved (and still loves) gardening. We always had tomato plants, and this candle smells EXACTLY like a tomato plant. It smells like my childhood, and more specifically, my childhood during the summer. Long days, warm sunshine, and tomato plants (among other things) were what my summers looked like, and I just really like this candle, okay?!
Soap and Glory - "Clean on Me" Body Wash and "The Righteous Butter" Body Lotion
I've known about Soap and Glory for some time, but never really had the chance to try their products. Target and Ulta Beauty are the two places I know for sure where they are sold, and I have neither in my hometown. So I made sure to make one final Target shopping spree before I left school so I could get a body wash recommended by one of my favorite YouTubers, Estee Lalonde. Let me tell you, it was a great recommendation. It smells DIVINE, and when I went to a nearby city a week ago, I stopped by Target again so I could pick up the body lotion, which has the same scent as the body wash. I am in olfactory heaven.
Nail Polish - Sally Hansen Miracle Gel
I don't even know how long I have been contemplating trying these nail polishes, but I finally cracked. And boy am I glad I did. This polish has lasted at least four full days without cracking or chipping, and only showed small chips on day five. INCREDIBLE. I have two shades plus a top coat as of right now, a pretty nude pink called "Pinky Promise", and an actual nude called "Birthday Suit." They're about $8 at the drugstore, so they're up there with polishes like Essie and OPI, but the product is well worth the price.
Book - A Court of Wings and Ruin
A few weeks shy of an exact year ago, I put up THIS blog post about a book favorite. Well folks, that series has come to an end with the final installment of the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR for short) trilogy. And let me tell you...wow. I cried and laughed and basically experienced way too many emotions all at once. It was fantastic. I think it's safe to say that this is one of my favorite book series. I am a huge fantasy lover. Always have been, always will be. And this is one that I will read over and over again.
And those are all the things I have been obsessed with lately! Let me know what your recent favorites have been in the comments, and thanks for reading!
