Last weekend was Family Weekend at my school, so my family came down to spend the weekend with me. My mother, completely understanding my need for autumnal decorations, did not disappoint. Gummy pumpkins and candy corn in mason jars was only the beginning. I thought I'd snap a couple pictures of the decorations that are currently residing on my walls and on the windowsill of my dorm to show you the wonderfully tacky decorations that I deem appropriate for this transitional season.
To being with, I have a sparkly pumpkin garland over my bed (held up by scotch tape - get on my level) that I got at Target for $1 (again, my level). Target is the place for you if you need some cheap but cute Halloween/Thanksgiving/Autumn decorations.
Next I have three baby pumpkins on my windowsill. I wanted baby pumpkins because 1) there isn't any space in my room for a regular-sized pumpkin, and 2) BABY PUMPKINS ARE JUST SO CUTE.
Next is the ever-classic gel window clings. I have different ones for every season/holiday. They are amazingly squishy and festive.
I also have fairy lights that are - can you guess? - CANDY CORN COLORED. They really make the atmosphere just a little cozier for those cold autumn nights. Especially since we can't have candles in our dorms. *Cries*
Next is probably the cheapest and tackiest of them all, but I just can't help myself. I love it. I LOVE IT. I bought this hollow, plastic LED Halloween candle at the Dollar Store and I. Just. Love it. The lights change color when you turn it on. I love it. This crappy picture does not do it justice.
Speaking of the Dollar Store, I bought a wooden Halloween sign there that says things like "Trick-or-Treat" and "Spooky" on it. It's glittery and wonderful.
Last, but not least, we have Mr. Pumpkin. Mr. Pumpkin will be filled to the brim with Halloween candy when it comes closer. Right now he's empty because to fill him prematurely would be detrimental to my teeth. I also have a headband with googly Frankenstein heads attached, but I'm not currently wearing it because I'm not insane. So I've stuck it in Mr. Pumpkin for now, just to keep him company.
As I mentioned earlier, we aren't allowed candles in the dorms. All my autumn Bath & Body Works candles are sitting at home, alone and unlit. But that doesn't stop me. I have a wax melter plugged in with Mulled Cider currently melting inside, a reed diffuser from Pier1 with Vanilla scented oil, AND a Bath & Body Works Wallflower plug-in with Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. My room smells like autumn threw up all over, and I am completely okay with that.
And there you have it! As you can see, I love me some glitter. If autumn dorm decor inspiration was what you were looking for, I hope you found it here. Thanks for reading, have a happy fall!
